CAPTAIN BEEFHEART: UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED

Straight outta' Glendale x Cucamonga x Victorville x Mojave. The Captain kicked out the
dada absurd(ist) blooze! Safe As Milk is an old favorite and a cold classic. Peep the John Peel doc. The Real Frank Zappa autobiography is a good read for more tales of weirdness.

THE GROWLERS: JETS TO BRASIL AND THE HOT TROPICS

Get ready to hear a lot more from The Growlers. Their next record is being produced by The Black Keys Dan Auerbach and should drop very soon and they play Coachella this year. Dig their already solid brew of surf, psychedelia, blues, Americana... I see the Morrison thing in the beach bum vibe. Didn't the Doors form in Santa Monica? Also in the west coast sunny doom sound sound ala The Doors, The Byrds. The tunes have some of the parlor music vibe Morrison and the Doors messed with. Love the Jack Coleman videos in that old school Super 8 style. They were down in Brazil for Rock in Rio and played with Los Hermanos Marcelo Camelo. Check the live footage and the mini-movie below.

BEN IS DEAD BIG STAR HULK HAIKU BLUES

Used to Love Ben Is Dead. (Hulk lifted from a cover.) Amazing pop-culture obsessives magazine from L.A. More random stream of consciousness visuals.... (Not really a) Haiku Blues cuz the Haiku is as busted as Hulk's stereo after listening to Big Star.

You're drivin' me mad
You shouldn't do that O My
Soul I lose control

Wrong cover art in the video but dig the blinking neon...

THREE O' CLOCK: JET FIGHTER

How no one has posted this on youtube is beyond me. Maybe it gets pulled or something. I've played this record over and over for years. And their first EP, Baroque Hoedown. Footage of them on MV3 floating around. Rodney on the Roq jam for sure.
